Public Records Law in the Age of Social Media
Join the Environmental and Land Use Law Section and speaker Patricia Gleason, Special Counsel for Open Government at the Office of the Attorney General, for this special one-hour webinar. The presentation will cover emerging issues resulting from the role technology plays in the communication and retention of public records as social media continues to complicate how local governments operate in the Sunshine State.
Specifically, social media platforms such as e-mail, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, texts, and Tweets, among others, present possible implications for local government actors, yet are often overlooked when faced with a public records request. Retention of such communications and records will also be discussed, as those advising local governments should be mindful of the methods available to properly retain and produce such records.
