This is the first of a four-part webinar series hosted by ELULS and Florida Sea Grant. This particular program focuses on boating and waterways law. Both of the State’s Special Taxing Navigation Districts — the West Coast and Florida Inland Navigation Districts — will be discussed. The interplay between local, State, and Federal regulation will also be explored, with a focus on on jurisdiction and preemption. Perhaps most practically, the roles that different agencies play in approving and enforcing different vessel regulatory zones will be covered. And perhaps most interestingly, the nebulous subject of submerged lands ownership will be addressed. With 18.5% of the State made up of water, this program is must-see for any Florida environmental or land use attorney unfamiliar with boating law.
