Join us for the latest tool to enhance Florida’s water quality under Part IV of Chapter 373.  Section 373. 4134, Fla. Stat. went into effect on July 1, providing for water quality enhancement areas (WQEA) utilizing innovative green technologies to enhance water quality.   A WQEA provides off site treatment for an impact site.  It is an area where a natural system constructed, operated, managed, and maintained for offsite regional treatment provides enhancement credits pursuant to a water quality enhancement area permit in a designated service area approved in an Environmental Resource Permit.  This new statute provides DEP, the Water Management District and other governmental entities a new tool to protect and improve water quality.
