Dec. 10th: Private SWFWMD Restoration Sites Tour

8:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Southern Hillsborough County
Join ELULS for a free tour of Southwest Florida Water Management District restoration sites on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. We will tour two private restoration sites, one where the restoration work is complete and one where the restoration is just beginning. Both of the sites are located in southern Hillsborough County.
We will start the tour at the site where the restoration is complete. The District restored over 1,000 acres of coastal habitats including uplands, such as pine flatwoods and hardwood hammocks, and various estuarine and freshwater habitats. The project has been recognized with awards from the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council and the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission. The second site is much smaller, but is of interest because when restored it will have a similar habitat to the first site. It is a former fish farm with multiple small ponds on the property that will be filled in to create a new habitat.
HOW IT WORKS: ELULS will provide the tickets. You register and show up for the tours.
Tour tickets are available in a very limited quantity and registration through EventBrite is required for participation. Further details, including location information, will be provided upon registration.
