Stacy Bjordahl, Esq.
Co-Chair

Purpose

To provide outreach to each of the eleven Florida law schools and their land use and
environmental programs to stimulate student interest in the Section and in the practice of environmental and land use law as a whole.

Duties/Responsibilities

1. Keep a list of current law school liaisons from each law school and ensure each liaison is an active member of the Section (Law Schools Exhibit A).

2. Contact each law school liaison at least once per quarter during the academic school year to develop and maintain a relationship between ELULS and Florida law schools, as well as to solicit feedback regarding the block grant program and ideas for other initiatives to fulfill the purpose of the Committee.

3. Coordinate and organize the Section’s Law School Grant Program including, but not limited to, soliciting law school grant candidates (Law Schools Exhibit B – completed each April), obtaining grant request applications, coordinating the mailing of Law School Grant Acceptance Letters (Law Schools Exhibit C – completed each July/August) and grant checks, ensuring follow-up reports are collected from each law school (periodically during the fiscal year before the new program launches), and making adjustments to the Program and Section policy as necessary.

4. Actively promote ELULS programs and activities to Florida law schools by sending notice of CLEs and other activities to the law school’s liaison for distribution to students.

5. Complete periodic reviews of the Section website to ensure Law School Committee information is accurate and up to date.

6. Prepare status reports following Committee meetings and calls for presentation at all ELULS Executive Council Meetings.

7. Coordinate appropriate Section expenditures related to Section and law school outreach, subject to Section budget.

8. Evaluate and identify new Committee goals or revisions to Committee goals through periodic review.
